Chinese cloisonne beads

Cloisonne is the name for a technique of enamelling metal to produce brightly coloured patterns and pictures. Wire is soldered onto the metal base to form compartments which are then filled with a wet vitreous enamel and gum mix, which is fired to form a thin layer of coloured glass within each compartment. The resulting cloisonne beads are brightly coloured, detailed and very attractive.
